Unhappy conversion

I would like to know if you can make a 440 into a 426 hemi engine
and if so what would be needed for the conversion?

They have made and I think still make hemi heads that fit on the RB engines. The factory Hemi heads won't bolt up to the 440 block.

The heads aren't cheap, and you have to do a lot of machining to the block. It would be easier and cheaper to just buy a crate Hemi.

There's an outfit called Stage VI Engineering whose main offering
was the Hemi head to B/RB block conversion. As Ed stated,
the conversion is quite spendy, and really only made sense prior
to MPs resurrection of the Hemi stuff. Still, if you're curious, they
used to have a website (couldn't locate), or try info below, pulled
from the yellow pages:

As charger_dan stated there is a company called Stage V that offers hemi heads that will fit B and RB blocks (B blocks require a hand built intake as none are available for it). The only mods required to the block for these heads is to grind in the lifter valley for the pushrods. If my memory serves me correctly bare aluminum heads start at around $3200 a set, then the rocker assmeby (roller) starts at around $1500. Original hemi rockers won't fit these heads so you have to buy these. Now you still have to buy valves, springs, and ect. It gets to be pretty pricey. Once apon a time I was considering these heads but did the math and came out close going Fake vs. real. It just makes more since going real for a few coins more. I believe that resale value for a "real" hemi will be more than a 440 hemi. Also for this conversion you have to run a hemi intake, hemi pistons, and a hemi cam (wedge cam has a different lobe seperation).

I just noticed that charger_dan called the company stage VI or IV, the company is stage V their website is www.stagev.com one page with a picture and an e-mail link.
