Default Shift kits?

Hey guys,
Here's my question, what is a shift kit and how does it work? I''ve been hearing a lot about them lately and felt I should know.

Basicly speaking, a shift kit is a kit that changes the way a tranny shifts. They come in 3 levels. RV, Street/Strip, full race.
The idea behind them is to quicken the time it takes to shift the tranny from 1st to 2nd and 2nd to drive.
Rv is quick and firm
S/S is quicker and a soild shift.
Full race is the quickest and hardest shifting.
This quick shifting enables the car to accelerate quicker by reducing the time between shifts. This is a good up grade for even stock & mild cars without the extras.
It is also a good idea to add a extrenal tranny fluid cooler infront of your rad. and a deep tranny pan from MoPar performance for an extra quart of fluid. These 2 things reduce the tranny fluid temp. This adds life to the tranny.
Trannys like cool fluid and quick shifts.
When there shifting slow and soft, like a factory set up, for comfort and ride quality, and then you add extra power, you can seriously shorten there life.

Its not easy to identify wether or not you have one installed. My B&M shift kit had a new plate attached between the valve body and case as well as adjustments and internal valve body mods. I guess you could drop the vavebody and see if the divider plate looks new or has a vendor name etched on it. Is it shifting firm going into second gear under full throttle?
