Default Lifter Noise

I have what I think is some lifter noise from the passenger side of my 340, my buddy used a stethoscope and that was his opinion anyway. How do I find out if that's really what it is? If it is the lifters, can I replace them or does it call for a complete rebuild?

You can replace one lifter if that is what's needed. Or all of them. Lube them good when you do. No you don't need to rebuild the engine and you don't need to replace the cam unless it's bad. always check the cam when you need to replace 1 or more lifters.
