I hope this the right forum
I need to find a limited slip rearend out of a late 60s or up truck that has high gearing . how can i tell what it is by looking at it ?????

What type of rear end are you looking for? Dana 60, 8 3/4? And how high of gearing? Is this for a 4 wheel drive?

what i have is a 58 1/2 ton two wheel drive truck . It has a flat head six and a very small coresponding rear end . What it will have is a 331 hemi and a 727 . I know i want as tall a gearing as you could get as i want hiway crusing ability . But i also want the limited slip . Beyond that im as dumb as a stump and dont know what i want

I think your cheapest option is to use the axle spotters guid, iin the tech archive.
Get a complete diff from whatever is the closest size to what you need(dimensions) Then try to find a gear set. Then you've upgraded to newer brakes ect, at the same time. |

Look for 6 cyl. vans and old trucks and you will fins 3.55 gears in all of them in an 8 3/4 axle. Like dave said you will only be limited by the sizes of them then.
