What type of rear end are you looking for? Dana 60, 8 3/4? And how high of gearing? Is this for a 4 wheel drive?

I think your cheapest option is to use the axle spotters guid, iin the tech archive.

Get a complete diff from whatever is the closest size to what you need(dimensions)

Then try to find a gear set.

Then you've upgraded to newer brakes ect, at the same time.

Look for 6 cyl. vans and old trucks and you will fins 3.55 gears in all of them in an 8 3/4 axle. Like dave said you will only be limited by the sizes of them then.
