Default new rear end 1/4 mile time

HEY ALL! My question is what would the 1/4 mile time be, over 7 1/4 rear end-to a dana 44 tracklock with 3.73's. Right now I run like a 17.60's. Could I go into the 15.'s? I have a stock 318 that runs good. Thank-ya

Considering your most likely running 2.76 gears in that 7 1/4 that want hold up to constant abuse, and switching to a 3.73 your et will drop quite a bit. Hard to say if it will go 15's though. Got to remember with additional low gears you may have just cause a big traction problem. I would still change to this set up if you have it available to you. It's a step in the right direction. Dont over tighten the u bolts when you swap the rear or you will put bind into the leaf springs that slide against one another. Also some time in the future when you add more hp you will want to give up the trac loc for a good sure grip diff. The track loc will not last against a lot of hp. It just is not designed for it. It's mopars idea ofa cheap sure grip for stock trucks and people wanting a locker rear end.

Default $00.02

Before you think about gears. I would think, and spend money on a bigger diff. Like "dw" said gradually move along the gear scale because every step into higher gears is helping.

Actually does anyone have a guess as to what it will run now with these gears. Speed at the end was 90mph 16.02 and 5000 rpm is 2'nd.

Just for an example, when I ran my car at the local 1/8 with 2.94 single track gears I got a 9.92 @ 69 or so i think with a 2.3-4 60ft. (don't remember the mph too well). When I switched in the 3.91's my best dropped to 8.9 @ 78mph with a 2.0 60ft. Hope this helps

All I needed to get into the 11's was a Dana and a 318 I've been going at this all wrong. Good one Cuda!

Later,

Greg
