Question Distributor

I have a 84 Dodge 360 with the ECU stock that runs at 6V.
My question is can I hook up the hall effect sensor directly to a 12v coil to get 12v and bypass the ECU blackbox entirely?

No, you can't. The reluctor in the bottom of the distrubutor triggers the ECU, which sends chopped DC voltage to the input of the coil, and then coil output sends high voltage to the top of the distributor, which gets sent to the spark plugs. It all works together, bypass any part and it stops working.
Mirada was last made in 83, no 360 was available after 80 unless it was one of the very rare cop cars. Most likely, if it is a 360, omeone put it in afterwards.

Yes you are correct it was put in after the 318 blew. Thanks for the explanation.
