Default B/RB dual idler gear drives

OK, I do not want to open another pro and con thread on gear drives, I just have a question on the dual idler offered by CAT or Proform or Pete Jackson (all the same anyway?) Here goes. I am installing one (C.A.T.) and the instruction are pretty clear up to a point. The idler gears are a bit thicker than the crank gear so they extend past the front of the crank gear plane (they are flush in the back) Where does the oil slinger go? It surely is not going on the crank the way it did with the chain because it hits the idler gears (slinger and idlers are not on the same plane anymore). Does a gear drive need the slung oil like the chain did? One other question. What prevents cam walk in a B/RB? The cover alone? Mine had some light scoring on it from the cam bolts. This drive has a thrust button bearing. Thanks.

in a nutshell: lobe taper

Cam lobe taper accomplishes 2 tasks at once:
promotes lifter revolution on the cam lobe,
and camshaft retention in the block.

Pretty slick, huh?
(I'll bet Mopar engineers invented thatÂ…)

On your oil slinger question:
I'd call CAT, or e-mail Rick Ehrenberg (Mopar Action tech editor)

Is the purpose of the oil slinger to sling oil onto the chain/gears or is it to sling oil away from the seal?

I vote for the latter.

I agree, Thats not to lube the chain only, its to keep excess oil from the timing chain seal too. I have disassembled 100,000 mile engines, that didnt have it so, its no biggy.
