oil filter inspection
Cut open my oil filter just to see if there are any problems before the track rental coming up,last trip to the track this season.
The filter element shows no signs of any metal particles, this is after about 5 passes last week, fresh oil change and filter. When I let the element sit in a freshly cleaned pan a silver film formed on the oil that drained from the element I can see tiny particles laying on top of the oil it's ajust suspended there. Is this something to worry about is something going wrong in the engine, alot of this is new to me just trying to be safe. This engine may have 40 passes on it seems to run and sound fine. I just looked in the pan again I can see tiny sparkles laying on top of the oil? |

Oil Analysis would be an option
An analysis would at least let you know the level's, and the exact compounds. Here is my story, I drained the oil after 30 passes on a fresh engine, and there was a gold looking sheen. I started fretting, and checking the things that were easy. I had the filter cut apart, and had the engine guy look at it. He wasn't too concerened. It turned out that the gold paint came off the stripe on the valve springs, and caused the sleepless nights! It could be bad, or nothing. Hopefully, the latter. Good luck.
