Default Dual plane intake manifold/ HUGHESINGINES

Have been at the 14th annual Houston Mopar Show and Race today, saw some dual plane intakes with the divider cut down some 3/4 in. and some with just a small amount cut out 1/8 in.what is the reason for this? Is there a benefit in doing this, and if so what? Hughes Engines, I understand that they make a very good cam for the small block . Any input on them. Quality Wise....................................... Thank You LARRY DAN

The reason for cutting down the plenum dividing wall is to raise the hp curve up some. A little better top end but less low end.

Not exactly. Kinda in between. Like trying to have your cake and eat it too. You just cant have both. Any mod to the intake is a trade off. You either get max hp, max tq, or somewhere in between and this mod tries to get in between. I dont usually recommend doing this to your intake though.

speaking of intakes...

what intake would you guys suggest for a stock 360 street car?

at the present time, it has a 2barrel stock intake and the rest of the engine is stock. only changes planning to do for now are intake, cam and headers(if i can get them to fit in the engine compartment)

The best street set up for any small block is the Weiand action plus. Use a stock thermoquad carb too. It is more throttle responsive than any holley and easier to tune. Get them new at Advance auto for 189 or so. We have even used the tq on several dirt track cars with great results too.
