tight headers
Just had Hooker Comp headers put on 69 Dodge Super Bee w/440. The headers sometimes knock against the gear box when idling and deceleration. Anyone know any way/tricks to alleviate this? When idling the engine seems pretty solid. It's not shaking around. Could it be motor mounts?

Sounds like the headers are just a little too close. It could be a bad motor mount, however, I doubt it.

FYI. You were correct on motor mount. Tightened and now have 3/4 inch clearance.

Maybe I'm a little stupid, but what has a loose motor mount got to do with header/trans clearance?

It was header steering gear box clearence not tranny clearence issue. Loose mount let engine rock over far enough for header to hit the gear box.

Now that you said it, the word "steering" made it a little easier to understand for a foreigner.

Not a problem. I did not even notice where you were from at first. Slang terms can make it a little cofusing I guess after all.
