Default Ed heads piston clearance problem

Hi guys , I have a problem with a less than the recommended .040" quench. I had to cut the block more than I would have liked to get the decks square and straight and now I
have a positive deck height of about .007". this is going to give me an assembled quench of around .033", this is too close for my liking. I was wondering if anyone has any knowledge of a thicker head gasket than the normal .040" Felpro. Although on a lot of engines I have built the Felpro gaskets don't seem to compress to the .040" that Felpro quote, they are usually around .044" to .046", has anyone else noticed this?
Also has anyone got an idea on what the O ring # 1008 gasket actually compresses to, is it the same as the permatorque type gasket or is it a little more?
I've heard there is a thicker Felpro gasket available but I can't find any info on it.
This engine is a 360 with a set of KB 107 pistons.
Any help on this would be much appreciated

Cometic Gaskets should be able to provide you with a high quality head gasket in the thickness you want.

The other option is to cut the piston, provided you are using flat tops. Any machine shop should be able to perform this operation and it shouldn't cost that much. It can be done in a lathe quite easily.

The Bore on your engine is 4.030 right?

the Felpro 1008 is 4.180 right?

So what happens to the big gap around the top of the combustion chamber??...I'll answer that one...it takes .3 compression out of your motor.

Cometic makes a bore specific gasket in 10 different thickness' for SB Mopars

Email Jason at Cometic and he'll give you a dealer in Australia..If they don't have one there we can ship to you via USPS (Mail)

jason@cometic.com

Be sure and let him know that Don from FBO sent you.

If you email me for the gaskets be sure and remind me that your a Moparchat member ..we have a substantial discount for members.

Do a search with my user name, rumblefish360, I had a create short block with this problem of .011 positive piston deck. I can't remember the part number to the gasket, but Fel-Pro makes a .054 think gasket.

cuda66273 actually has the answer though.
