Does it do the same thing in Reverse?
If it only does it in 1st, the rear clutch seals are probably leaking and the clutch won't engage until the revs are brought up and the fluid volume increases enough to overcome the leaks. |

Is this in manual or in drive low...they are two different things...manual uses the low reverse band and drive low uses the one way spraque clutch at the back of the trans...I agree with RNgeer though...also check your fluid level

It apparently does it in both manual and drive low.... two of us own the car and each experienced it in different modes. The tranny is out of the car now awaiting a possible rebuild but I thought I would try and see if a rebuild is necessary. ALso the front pump seal to the converter leaks.... It may be worth rebuilding since I have it out to be safe....
