Default why no difference ?

guys, i need some help. i bolted on a set of 10.5x26 et streets to replace my 245/60/15 street tires.
got out my last 5 timeslips.

#1. 12.97@104.21 1.93 60ft-------street tires

#2 13.02@103.57 1.975 60 ft-----street tires

#3 12.961@104.4 1.956 60ft-----street tires

#4 12.78@105.11 1.89 60ft-----street tires

#5 13.06@103.88 1.937 60ft----street tires
these tires above ran best at 30 lbs of air.

now the et streets

#1 12.985@104.44 1.927 60ft

#2 12.992@103.88 1.93 60ft

#3 12.94@103.92 1.906 60ft

#4 12.92@104.11 1.896 60ft

#5 13.01@104.23 1.902 60ft

these tires hooked best at 12 lbs of air.

i was expecting a big difference with the et's using the cheater slicks. why not much change ?

car is 72 demon/built 360 auto-3200 stall 4.10 gears.

What's the diameter of the street tires?

Looks like you weren't spinning the street tires much if at all or your spinning the slicks as much as the streeters.

Run 4 looks quicker than you ever ran on streeters?

Maybe you need to look at your tune-up and pour some more bottom end tork to it to improve those 60' times.

What Cuda66 said. To make any gains. you need to place the efforts on your weakest link.
If your tires slipped alot before, then better traction would produce better time slips. If not, no gain.

cuda, i wrote down the wrong tires. street tires are 265/50/15 with a dia, of 25 inches.
what i dont understand is the fact that i'm heating those slicks up good during my burnout and my 60 fts don't show much improvement.
my convertor is a tci streetfighter. its supposed to stall between 3000-3500

"with a dia, of 25 inches."

So you addded 1" of diameter, that took gear out of the car.

Maybe your over heating them?

The first run of the day you should get a fair amount of smoke out of them...after that listen to your motor ...it'll start pulling down as the tires reach max traction temp...roll out after that your just wasting good rubber.

Again I ask were you spinning the street tires and did you spin the slicks???...tires don't add horsepower they only change gear ratio and traction.

"convertor is a tci streetfighter. its supposed to stall between 3000-3500"

But does it?, have you done a flash test and convertor efficiency calcualtion?

Hey Don,
well actually I will be building a new car. A Vette roadster. I was just offered a really good deal on a Dale Jarret V-6 I am seriously considering putting in it. It was some of his motors left over from the Busch series V-6. One of my buddies bought one and love it. Dyno'd at 776 hp.....not bad for the price, down side is valve springs and valve train maintenace on a 10,500 rpm push rod motor.

I know that combo well....bolt in a C-6 tranny and a AMC rear end and it'll fly......LOL

The Dana in my car came out of a SS Pinto that ran 12's with the 4 banger....12,000 RPM shifts with a 7.17:1 gear.......he only makes it to the track about twice a year the rest of the time it's blown up....LOL

lol 12,500 crazy!

I know valve train maintenace will be a pain, but I can get all the valve springs that I need for minimal to no prices. I hope this deal can work out will be fun to play with for a little while anyways. 700 hp is 700 hp, it carries pretty good torque too. I dont want to have to work it as high as 10,500 but Im sure something can be done.... the price of this engine is too good to pass up. I may buy it and try to sell it to some of the circle track guys around here. It should make good money for the price. Im waiting for him to get back to me so I can go get it.

Thats a good price, my engine builder has a set up real similar, he has had good responses to it. But that kit is costing more than the complete motor I will be purchasing, intake to pan with oiling system and distributor, etc. Plus the V-6 is making well over 700hp. Like I said, too good a deal to pass up. The fella has a few of them and wants to seem them running in drag cars so he is just about giving them away. Money to him, unlike the rest of us, is not an issue.

I will still have the daytona and the 65 coronet, the 66 satellite, the 69 dart in the stable but will have the Vette as well. So Im not selling out on mopar. Just doing something a little different. I like all fast cars and am not prejudice to any one or another. I drive or race what I want regardless of brand.

"am not prejudice to any one or another"

I know what you mean...I just got back from the parts store....drove the Nissan to get parts for the Mitsubishi (D50 Ram) pick-up and an oil filter for the Chevy powered motorhome so we can load the Honda and Plymouth on the Texas Trailer(That is a country right?) and haul it all south for the winter.

Still desperate for 440 cores if you think about it...BTW if yor not going to use that 440 distributor I'd be happy to take it back for a full refund.

Good luck with your new program.
