Default will 340 cast crank flywheel fit 360??

I have a 340 cast crank flywheel thats practically new, but i don't need it because my car has the forged crank. My friend has a 360 4 spd car , that needs a new clutch. I was gonna do the job for him, and was wondering if i could sell him my flywheel as well. I know they are both external balance engines, but is the crank flange and bolt patterns the same??

It will bolt on but will not be balanced for the 360. It must be a 360 flywheel or be rebalanced for the 360.

Backfire is correct, it's not balanced the same. However due to a stackup of tolerances in factory production it may not be off enough to really matter. Let's face it, it's not an SFI approved flywheel so he shouldn't be racing it anyway. I'd put it in and see if there is any objectionable engine vibration. If not, there you go. If there is well then the easiest solution is to replace it with the correct one.

It won't be off by much, but it will be off.

You're much better off to resurface the one that's in the car now, unless it is known to be incorrect also.

Just curious, if both cast crank 340 and 360 are external balance, how is one balanced different from another? And if so mopar should have done it the same for sake of parts interchange.

The different engines take differing amount of weight. As for they should have made them the same, LOL. It would be nice if things worked that way.

You will find on some of the 340 stuff, it will actually say "FOR USE ON CAST 340 ONLY"

Like, on the harmonic balancer, ect.

Why they didn't make it the same...I don't know.

Why didn't they make the big and small block bellhousings the same, like on a gm?

Just to piss us off
