Angry Best header gasket for 440?

Just got a new mopar, 67 satellite set up for street/strip
It has a 440 with headers and one of the headers seems to have a leak where the header is mated to the block

I know this is a common problem but I have never messed with headers before.

I plan on getting a new gasket and some new fastners and redoing the mounting job on the leaking side.

Any advice on what type of gasket or what brand of gasket to use and how to prepare the block area (i.e., what if any sealant to use between block and header) would be greatly appreciated!

The most common reason for header leaks is a thin header flange itself !!

How thick is your flange? The better headers have a 3/8" thick one.

I use a combination of those gaskets that come with the headers and stock exhaust manifold gaskets. regular gasket against the block, and manifold gasket against the header. No gasket will solve a really warped flange, though.

If this is the case, then, cut the flange between the rearmost FRONT bolt and the frontmost MIDDLE bolt. then do the same between the front most REAR bolt and the rearmost MIDDLE bolt. you essentially create 3 seperate flanges on the one side.

I changed my drivers side gaskets a couple of times before someone told me to cut them. since, I have had no problems.

thanks for the info
Not sure of flange thickness or warpage
The leak appears to be in the middle where the 2 tubes are closest together. I would think warpage shows more at the ends than the middle so I am hoping that some new copper gaskets and some quality bolts will help cure it.

If the problem persists then I will look into the next solution which may involve the cutting idea

I'm still having same issue myself. Let us know how the copper gaskets do.
