Default Speaker problems

I recently installed some aftermarket Pioneer speakers in my 1994 Dodge Shadow. And they worked fine for a while, but recently, while at both normal and higher volumes, the sound gets very distorted, and drops out. At first I thought it was the radio itself, since it came from a junkyard, and because the radio shuts down when the speakers distort. Does anyone have any suggestions. My friend suggested checking the ground on either the radio. Thanks

I solved the problem, it was the wiring. I installed all new wiring for all four speakers, and it seems to be fine now.
