Does any one know if you can tellthe tear of a 340 block from the casting number 2780930-340-6. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I don't understand this wording, but, the numbers surplied would suggest you have a 340 block.

There's a date code on the passenger side of the block that will have the date on it like 10 - 7 - 71 stamped in it like this and it is widely spaced and easy to see.
