Help fibreglass hood

hey all.... anyone know of a supplier of quality fibreglass hoods for mopars in canada? u.s. is fine too, but i talked to a company today located in us and a hood for my 69 dart would run over a grand, maybe more if i had to pay duties to get it across the border! i have read a few replies about shoddy products from certain companies so i really only want to do this once. when i say over a grand i meant by the time i exchange our lousy canadian dollar to u.s. dollars this is where ratio really hurts,...hmmm,ratio....i guess i was paying attention in public school afterall (although if i had of stayed in school maybe lots of nights my back would not ache from manual labour)..........then again ,maybe my head would throb! wait, i have had that problem on saturday/ sunday,...hmmm, monday mornings...laff! anyways,.............i am looking to drop some weight off my mostly stock dart in turn improving both looks and performance. i got to find a way to keep ahead of those damn rustangs! any help will be greatly appreciated, someone out there must be driving around with a lighter, meaner looking mopar what with todays advancements in glassworks. i do not mind paying for top workmanship but like us all hate when us little guys get burned for a product which sux but makes someone else wealthy,.......thanks in advance!

I had real good luck with GlassTech in Florida, I will be getting some doors from them soon. I don't have their number in front of me but I will edit this post when I find it.

Default Fiberglass hood

I've used several fiberglss companies but the only one to use is AAR out of Florida the Quality of their product leads the industry.

I have seen several AAR hoods on A-bodys here in Florida as a result of going to Mopars at Garlits show/swap meet. Not only does AAR set up as a vendor selling the hoods there, but you can see them installed on cars in the show. I looked at their products and they certainly looked well made, and I was impressed with the bolt on hoods they made. There was a beautiful stroked 360 duster there with an AAR sixpack bolt on where he just removed the springs on the hood hinges and then put them on backwards which lessened the tension enough to hold the hood up but not crack the fiberglass. If a breeze came up it was enough to close the hood tho. I think I may rig up a gas shock or two instead if I go that route.

becareful if you buy from the states (i too live in canada), and the duty charges + brokerage will sometimes run you over 25% of the original cost of the item. You may be better off hitting the barrie flea market, or checking out Performace Improvements (toronto), i think they can order glass parts for ya.

a typeO .....a TYPEo ?? .....

it is a regularO ....from you !!

I am sure that uNlimited is capable of making a quality part....but the question is ........

will they ever make that a common practice ??

... NOT from what I have seen and heard. And most people here feel the same way.
