Default Valley pan or intake gaskets?

On a B/RB do you run intake gaskets along with the valley pan, or do you run just the valley pan with its embossed port seals and a sealer? Would the gaskets (if used in conjunction with the valley pan) be on the intake or head side of the valley pan? I have seen it both ways and I have seen just the gasket with an aftermarket valley cover. Thanks

When I bought my Felpro Valley pan it came with 4 paper gaskets.
I have heard of problems with trying to install the paper gaskets along with the valley pan where the bolts holes don't line up easily. I intend to just use the valley pan only with RTV on both sides and especially in the 4 corners and front/back end rails.

When you say intake gasket, are you talking about the 4 paper ones or a conventional full length gasket ?

The valley pan is a steel shim gasket and needs no paper or RTV to make it seal. We use nothing on them and they work good. We even use steel shim gaskets on our dirt track small block without any sealing problems. We use them cause they have the heat cross over blocked on the gasket itself.

I've always used the FelPro Valley Pan with the included brush tack and have never had a problem.

Cool, I thought the Valley pan was on its own when it came to sealing. Mine (MP P4286825) still has the crossover hole so I guess Ill block it with a piece of Coke can or something thin.

It's better to stuff the crossover openings with a big wad of aluminum foil.

If you want to block the crossover, it better to just get the correct valley pan.
