The 3/4 is a little longer and the shaft needs trimming. Cant remember the exact amount, but it does need trimming.

once you put in the 83/4 you will need to measure with the car sitting on all 4 wheels most companys who cut drive shafts want a center to center measurement at the universals.don't forget you need about a inch and a half play

Driveshaft Masters in L.A. told me when I went from 7.25 to 8.25 that they want the measurement from the tip of the output shaft to the center of the u-joint cup in the yoke with the vehicle sitting in it's natural stance....
I took about 2.25 off and added a fresh yoke when I did that. When I switch to the 9" and stroker BB, Ill have another shaft made for it. Wouldn't want to trust a modified /6 shaft on that...

My car was a /6 ,and was changed to a 340 before I got it. Whoever did the change put a 8 3/4 rear in it. I guess they didn't shorten the driveshaft. The shaft had no play in it at all. When I put lower pumpkin in I shortened the shaft 3".
Later when I put the RB in I didn't have to do anything. The /6 shaft works fine. Good enough to shatter the stock flexplate the first time stalled it up and tried it out. It's a torque monster .
