Default headers on E bodies

How many of you are running headers on your E bodies that have the "one" tube lower than the idler arm? I guess I want to know if you are bottoming a lot and destroying the tube. Subject is a 71 Challenger, 360, stock Hieght. I know the idler threads through the one side. The headers are brand new, and better yet free, thats why I am considering them. Frank R.

FREE I'd grab them........nothing a weld and tuck won't fix - if you don't use them sell them unless there are close friends set.

I run basic Heddman's on my car.

Same deal with the idler arm.

My Challenger at stock height with 14" rims got me a hole in my set within the first 500 miles. Fixed it with some epoxy and a sheet metal screw; though the flattened area is still there.

I don't have too much of a problem now, as I have 15" rims...even with a 245/60's.

Once in awhile I get a little contact on a large speed bump, or a weird driveway situation. No new damage though.

I finally gave up on that design. For the street, they suck .. I have never had a pair survive the street. The 3 tubes that go under the centerlink and other parts on the drivers side alllways get it sooner or later.

Headers that work are my current Hooker super comp @ 1 3/4 pipe. They do not work with a scatter sheild from lake wood on 4spd cars. The other more pricy set would be a set from tti. These have an edge in the street due to there step tube design.

Sell them and use the proceeds to get ethier of these other headers to use and never be bothered by this menace of worthless performance headers again.

For FREE - take. Then sell them on ebay and buy a quality set of TTI headers.
