Default Cuda air cleaner?

I'm having a hard time finding a good enough air cleaner for my '70 440 Cuda. The motor has a Edelbrock Performer RPM intake and 750 Holley. That intake is 1 3/4 higher than the stock intake. So an everyday 14x3 air sleaned will hit the hood. If I use a drop base air cleaner it seems to restrict the air to much. I mean to the point where the car wants to choke out when you get on it. Anybody had the same problem?
