Hi Everyone!
Well, I decided to go ahead and order the MP 727 rebuild kit. However I do have a question with regards to which kit is the proper one to order. MP basically offers 2 kits, a Performance and Race version. Is there a difference between the 2 in terms of the friction material used? Am I OK to order the race version to be used in a weekend driver, basicaly a street/strip car? I've heard conflicting opinions from local Mopar people. Some say the race version just contains extra parts (like extra plates/linings, etc.), some say it uses an altogether different lining material, which while offering better friction characteristics also wears much faster and is not suitable for the street. Any opinions on that one? -Dariusz |

I am pretty sure that the only difference between the two kits is that the (RACE) kit contains a kevlar front band. I'm almost sure that the friction material is the same in both kits. Go with the race kit, I built a 727 for drag use only in 1992, and its still going strong. I service it at the beginning of every season. There has been a new performance overhaul kit that has just been released in the past month, (the old part number is no longer available) and I think the only difference in this one is that a rear band does not come with it. Good luck!!!
