crank movement 68 383
When I rev the engine, I can see the crank move forward about a quarter of an inch. Is that normal? What is wrong that would cause this?

More than likely the crank or the thrust bearing is worn or both. There is only supposed to be .005" to .010'' end play on the crank.
The crank is going to have to be examined to see exactly what is wrong & how to repair it. Normally the crank can be repaired if the thrust surface is worn or you might just want to replace the crank if you have a spare. |

Have you checked to see if the balancer is loose? Maybe only the balancer is sliding around?

Someone posted a similiar queery here a week or two ago.
Most likely thrust bearing/crankshaft.(as already indicated) Shouldn't drive it, it may break the timing chain. Pain in the a$$ for sure. It's ok if you were planning an engine upgrade(LOL) |
