Anyone used Alumaloy or Alumiweld?
I just watched an infomercial about this stuff and it looks interesting. I realize this isn't new stuff, but the application on aluminum heads, intakes and carbs could be interesting. Granted the melting temp is fairly low, but it looks like it could work.
Any useful information? |

I have only seen it demonstrated on very thin aluminum. Like an evaporator or something as thin. It looks like it would work, but getting a cylinder head that hot to melt the brazing rod? It was priced about $100 a lb too. I suppose it would have its uses.

Is this the odd shaped (kind of oval) random length kind of heavy stuff?

It is in brazing rod form. Heat up the base, apply the rod and it melts into the base metal for the weld. The demonstrator builds up a small knob and pulls on it with a pair of dikes, strong enough to rip the evaperator base metal! Of course the base metal is like 24 guage.....
