Will this 60 amp alternator be ok for this
67 Barracuda, originally a /6 car. I'm using no options not even a radio. This is a race only hobby car. I'm just running the head lights and gauges and charging the battery. It's a 383 now. |

It will work just fine.I'd consider a deep groove pulley from Moroso or a similar company so that the belt doesn't fly off when you race the car.

Does the alternator have one field connection or 2? If it has 2 field wires (which I suspect it does), you need to wire up an electronic voltage regulator and hard wire a 10 gage wire from the alternator output to the battery.
If you have a current meter inside the car, you need to make sure it is disconnected, as most of the amp meters were good for only 30 or 40 amps. Using the original (mechanical) voltage regulator will lead to failure as the VR contacts were not designed to handle 60 amps. |
