YEAH, that is some heavy ching- unless your into serious racing. Didn't Chrysler have a set of hemi heads for the small block? I thought I saw an article with Tom Hoover that said they did some R&D hemi heads for the small block.

For that kind of money, you could buy a Ray Barton RB.

Well it should be brought up that the reason these were made were for people with hotrods who could not find a decent early hemi. So it's worth the price to them.

"could not find a decent early hemi."
Leaving out the cost and trouble of finding and building an entire LA short block, water, pan, new exhaust system, etc. from the equation:
You can buy an ENTIRE completely re-manufactured 392 outright for less money. You can buy a core 392 for as little as $1000. I have a 241 Dodge hemi here you can have for $300.
I re-iterate: it's for people who expect their car to spend most of its time parked, with the hood up, waiting for the local children to ask questions "yo, dog, is that a hemi?".
Yeah, that's worth $8000....
AFAIK no one has used this stuff to build a race motor.
Why?
Because it's inferior to the existing W8/9 technology.

These heads are for someone who just wants to do it and nothing more. Just to be different.
The price? Well, if it's OK with your wallet........

of course, they look good. The point is if its yield is so good that justifies his price.
We hope to see the flow chart and dyno numbrer soon.

I thought I read in a PAW catalog that they offer a 392 for about $4k.
I think I'd rather have a 392 than a Hemi 318.
Then again, I read that you get about 1.5 hp per ci with the Hemi heads... Might be viable if you were running a small block drag setup and had generous sponsors?

They are for the nostalgia racer who can't find 392/354 parts. If you notice the intakes availible, one being a blower manifold. Think of a front engine dragster, an altered, a nostalgia funny car, an altered wheelbase care and you'll see the market these heads are designed for.

One of the great things about living in this wonderful country is "Freedom of Choice". We can do just about anything we want as long as we don't harm someone else.

That's the way I view the "hemi" conversion for the SB. Sure, they ain't cheap. Maybe it's not competitive with current technology(although I understand they flow about 325CFM out of the box). But for pure "sex appeal" it's got it "hands down". And for those who have never worked with the early hemi--this conversion looks pretty good; better bore/stroke ratio, much less weight, better availability of parts, superior head design, easier to adapt to later transmissions, etc. Bolt it up to a new "R" block and you have a "bullet proof" assembly. I hope they sell a "ton of em".

Sort of reminds me of a discussion around our house. I'm building a 40 Ford PU. My son wants me to put in a fully plated, supercharged GM engine I've had laying around for years(over 25). Or, a 289 Ford(with factory 2X4s); or one of the aluminum Mopars in the race shop(how's that for new technology). Me, I'm a "geezer", and insist that a Flathead Ford is the only way to go. Besides, I'm the one doing the building-Not Him! He can put anything in he wants to when I'm "looking up at the grass". How's that for an attitude?

A hemi conversion(Ardun) for a Flathead is $13K, so that $8K cost for a SB looks pretty good. Wonder what a hemi would look like in the PU? Hmm.

I've expended all my energy- time to go back to sleep-----ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ

Opps, don't know what happened to my computer-probably the operator! Or, the squirrels(who power my computer) may have gotten into the Viagra again.

Anyway, MERRY CHRISTMAS to everyone!
