Question 360/ 66 Cuda swap???

Hi Guys,
What is needed to swap 360 into 66 Cuda with 904 auto. Will 360 bolt up to 66/904? What about ext. balance problems?
Thanks

All you need is a 904 torque converter for a 360 or the correct after market flex plate. Might need some Shumacker engine mounts too. Other than that it will fit.

Thumbs up balance

Checker Auto Parts matched Summit's prices on the B&M flexplate for the 360 to 904 application for me...
$74.95 and no shipping charges !

Hope this saves you a few bucks..Dave

Dont sweat the passenger mount, the original wont line up but you can shim it with some fender washers between the motor ears and the mount brackets. Youll just have to figure out an exhaust plan. If you can get Spitfires (Call him and get a guaranteed shipping date with tracking before you send any money) they are a pretty good alternative to the 340 manifolds (around 400 for a set). If your going with a stock 360 and the same restrictive single exhaust that came on the 66, might as well stay with the 273 logs with a little port matching. Let me know if you have any questions on this., I've done 2 and have lots of solutions.

The Cuda has a stock 273/904 combo at this time.
Thanks

I am currently in the same dilemma: I am Brazilian and own a ´75 Dart (very similar to your ´68 model) and have just acquired a 360 to be built and assembled to it. A 904 torque converter with external balance will be a nightmare to be found down here (there were no 360 cars built locally), so I am seriously thinking about taking the converter out of a 904 and make the balance of it. Have anyone of you tried it before?
In terms of engine swap, I have faced no trouble so far, as my car is originally equipped with a 318 - the only modification I´ve made as making one sim to line the engine up (it came from a ´96 RAM), and I am working on a custom-made oil pan (it´s cheaper than ordering one from Milodon or even Summit - don´t forget that the distance between USA and brazil is huge and not only freigth is expensive but taxes will take a considerable bite of my pocket everytime I have to import any part). Next step will be casting a new manifold to fit a 1850 quadrijet (this one will be challenging!).
Best regards for all and Merry Xmas!

Hi,
Merry Xmas to all. If you can get a B&M flex plate for 360/904 ext. balance combo you can use your torque converter and not worry about a ext balance 904 converter. The B&M flex plate #10239 is what you need. About $75.00 US.

If there are some nearby torque convertor rebuilding shops they can weld on the proper weights. What you will need, are the specifactions to have them do this properly. At one time Mopar parts had a balance kit they sold w/ the instructions how to properly install the weights. Convertor rebuilders here in the states know how to do this(and they have the weights). Since 360's were not available in your country, it is not likely they will have the specs to do this correctly. Good Luck
