Ok, lets see who the Model Car fanatics are!

Ok, we got any styrene plastic fanatics here?
I've been building since 1966, way back in grade school. It was the only way for me to own a car back then. And even now, I enjoy it cause I can set in the comfort of the house and not bust knuckles or get stuff in my eyes!
Got any kits built you'd like to post? Here's a few of mine.

I have two, a Yellow 1970 Dodge Challenger R/T with a White vinly roof 1/18th scale and a 1970 Vanishing Point Replica 1/18th scale that I tried to make into my own car by adding a Black vinly roof and Black body side mouldings.......looks good, well from a distance.

Yeah these new forums are cool! I have only been interested in Models since I got one as a gift about a year ago. After that I went and had a look at a Model shop and man, I spent ages in there. They've got some great detail and the models available are amazing, pretty much what ever you want they'll have or can get

I dont have a lot of time myself, most of what you see that I've built , I built in the hour or so before I go to bed. I just set down and scrape and glue and cut plastic, works much better than sleeping pills! Just dont get into it too much and stay up all night!

LOL I have mostly model cars

I like to collect old race cars from the 60s. Color me gone, ram chargers, little red wagon, and a few others. I also like to mix and match. I built a 4x4 superbee once, try that in real life and some mopar purist will try to kill you.

1971 Superbird Model kit MPC

My uncle found some of his old model cars and one of them is a 1971 Superbird that you can build three ways. One as a 71 Roadrunner, 71 Super Stock Roadrunner and the other one a 71 Superbird. This model kit is from 1970 made by MPC. I think it might show how close they were to making a 71 Daytona and Superbird. We have seen rummors about this maybe the is a clue to some of it. You can email me at Coronet1970RTguy@aol.com if you want to know anything else about. The car is not in the box but will look for it later in another storage building with his other models.

My brother built one of those years ago. IT would not have looked as good as the '69 and '70 versions. It most likely would not have sold at all. But all they were interested in was putting enough on the lots to aprove it for NASCAR use. Sales really did not matter to them, but NASCAR outlawed it along with ferds new engine and the areo wars were over.

Arrow number one of none

go to national B body owners club website and there is a picture of a 71 charger that somebody faked into a bird.It looks really cool too.Had to widen the nose and all sorts of little things to make it happen.

I have been to the wing warriors web page. The charger was made into a daytona and they have a 71 superbird in the works to. I do know Chrysler was close to making these cars. Its just strang to put a model out with out a real car for it. Most models had a real car out. This kit is from MPC made in 1970. Its just cool to see what might have been. Keep posting if you can find out anything on this model or post on other strang model cars. Also I found the car brochure on the 71 dodge challenger line up. It does have the 71 T/A in it. See ya all.

Default 71 'Bird by MPC

I built one of those when they were first issued, very cool car. I might be mistaken but I think I saw a 1/4 scale wind tunnel model of the '71 'Bird that was used to check aerodynamics for the NASCAR body.

I believe the kit was reissued about 10 years ago by AMT, I'll have to check the vault to see if I have one!

I've got LOTS of die-cast cars, but only have a couple of models. I bought a 1/24 Pagani Zonda off ebay last year, but haven't built it yet.
My favourite die-casts are: 1966 GT40 mkII, 1969 GT40 mkII, 63 split window vette, 67 Shelby GT500, 1967 Dan Gurney Lola T-70, 1965 Mustang 2+2 Fastback.

Just bought Polar Lights' (Johnny Lightening) new 65 Cornet 500 1/25 snap together. Nice kit, come painted in two or three colors (mine's in black), they give you either the stock hubcaps or Torque Thrusts for wheels, 426 CI Wedge motor (either a Street Wedge or Max Wedge!) a standard or WO23 (or 32, I can't remember) hood, AND a pair of slicks!

The only down side is that the headlights are cast as part of the grill (no biggie), the engine, oil pans (it's got a 727!) and intake manifolds are cast an almost Ford engine blue, and the box refers to the car as Hemi (I know, I know, it's a model year early for a Street Hemi car) even though it's got the Wedge motor. It seems to be worth the $17.99 retail price (check out your local Hobby Lobby, they're running the 50% off all plastic sale 7/25/04-7/31/04).

I got 30 or 40 myself, mostly muscle and 85% mopar. I've also got 23 1/18 diecast. I put the Hemi motor out of the 1970 Hemicuda into the 1969 383 Barracuda. Just painted over the
"383" in the side stripe and alot of mods under the hood. looks almost factory made. No one appreciates the time invoved in
such an effort. These were two different manufacturers products merged like I like 'em.Most of mine have been modified, including a "Joe Dirt" Daytona I've been messing with. This is a cool thread.

Default 71 superbird

Last month, Mopar Action or Mopar Muscle had an article on a guy who makes 71 'birds. I have the 71 'bird model you guys are talking about. I just kept it a Runner. It is orange and not exactly a show quality kit. Kinda cheap, with metal axles and solid rubber tyres, I had to make a hood from scratch. Its also smaller than most of my other kits(1/25?). It was a 1$ yard sale score. If I could ever get my PC up to snuff, I'd post a picture of it.

Don't know who'll be interested, but there will be a model and toy show at the DuPage Co. Fairgrounds in Wheaton, IL on 8/29/04 from 9am to 2pm. There's going to be show models and a swap meet there as well as diecasts and toys.

Wonder how well that kit would work with the chassis from one of AMT/ERTL's '68-'70 B-Body kits and with the proto-type DOHC NASCAR HEMI? Hows that for the ultimate One of None mopar model?

Default DOHC Hemi

I got 2 of them. Both from Prostreet Superbee kits. Now THAT was a hell of a kit! Great tires. Any way I've got one in an unpainted "GOLOR ME GONE" Polara. The other one is in a Superbird.
