2nd Opinions
I just got a cam with .460/.460, 290 adv. duration, 228 @ 50. I'm planning on setting up my 225ci slant with 9.5:1-10:1 compression with a decent set of gears in an 8 1/4 rear (assuming I can find one). I'm keeping the stock 3sp auto 904, but adding a kit and 2 more clutches. While searching for the rest of the valvetrain, I was told that this cam is extremely hot for stoplight to stoplight driving, and mainly for the track where I can take it to a 2200-2500 stall. Is this true, or was someone blowing smoke?

It's a bit radical, but not excessively so. I just wonder if an unported head would get the most use out of that much lift?
Thought about at least getting maybe a bit of bowl work done and a 3 angle valve job? It should work ok though with a decent set of gears and a higher stall torque converter. Its just that the lift seems a bit much, I dont remember the lift specs off the top of my head, but a stocker slant cam isnt exactly a radical bump stick! |

Yeah, I'm planning on getting the usual head work done...port & polish, oversize valves, etc. However, I called Racer Brown, and I have one coming from him, just as insurance. However, it was my understanding that the slant was a low-end torque monster, and that such a huge stall speed would just eat that up. Oh, well.
