Default Chassis dyno results

Put the '65 Coronet on the chassis dyno last weekend. Made 23 pulls while we swapped carbs, manifolds and spacers. Best numbers were 505 ft-lbs of torque and 468 hp at the rear tires.

Motor liked the Performer RPM the best. AFB vs. AVS carb didn't matter, both were 800 cfm Eddy versions. The car is a serious handful on the street. Punch it a little too hard and the rear end starts making its move towards the guardrail!

wow

WOW! That's some freakin serious HP at the rear wheels! I think people don't realize sometimes how hard it is to make that much power through the tranny and rear end down to the ground. I'm guessing it must be a BB...

Yep, big block power. It is a 466 low deck. 400 block with a 3.875 crank in it. Eddy heads, Performer RPM manifold, cast iron exhaust manifolds and the 800 cfm Eddy carb. Mopar Performance 0.528 camshaft. Idles with 14 inches of vacuum at 850 rpm but makes good power up past 6200 rpm.

If you have the March issue of Pop Hot Rod sitting around you can see the car in there. Or wait for the July issue to show up and you'll see the car again.

I might go back to the dyno and test a Demon carb if BG wants to send me a carb. Other things I want to try are an electric water pump, an X pipe in the exhaust and maybe some hyd roller cams. It would be cool to get it up to 500 hp at the rear tires.
