Help Prepping an a-body for race

Ok, here is the scenario. Picked up a 67 valiant for $200 and plan on racing it. Dropping my spare 340 in the car. Car is an original slant 6 car. I was planning on getting the schumacher mounts to drop in. I am change the front drums to disc. I am also getting subframe connectors. I have a 9" that I am gonna shorten and put under it along with some decent landrum monoleafs back with my new caltracs. I have adjustable shocks for it as well. IS there any thing else I need to stiffen the chassis? Or for that matter is there anything else I misssed? The last thing I want to do is run this car and twist the body off the line. I should mention the 340 I am throwing in this car made 475hp @ 6,600rpm and 462 lb/ft of torque @ 5200rpm. So I am very concerned with the chassis rigidness. Any suggestions?

With that kind of power, I would think that you would run in the 11second range. Therefore you will need a roll bar. A bar will stiffen your car up a bunch.

Is that 475 @ the crank or the rear wheels? I have a 340 in my 72 demon and I am hopping to get to the dino this year for some tuning and I am wondering if I will get to the 300 or more mark.

That is flywheel power. My combo is pretty basic compared to most. 20 over 73 340 with a 69 steel crank turned 10 under, stock forged rods that were shot peened and balanced. Wiesco forged pistons. 915 J heads professionally ported to the tune of 240cfm @ .550 with 2.02's installed and combustion chambers polished. crane gold race 1.5 rockers. 340 edelbrock victor intake. Custom ground comp cams solid flat tappet cam 575/584 lift and 239/245 duration. 750 double pumper with a 2" spacer underneath it. This is on a stock stroke motor that can be driven on pump gas.
