Default 318 upgrade advice UPDATE

Hello,

First I'd like to say thanks to all the people that helped me learn about the 318. Everyone had great advice.

This is what I ended up with, not necesarly because it was the best parts combo, but the parts sort of fell in my lap!

A Friend at the local Champion auto parts had a 600 edel for $235
He also had the edel performer intake for $160. After throwing in free gaskets and all needed hoses I couldn't pass it up. Plus I got a great deal on an auto-gauge tach, oil and water gauge.

I still needed a cam though, so I went to the Dodge dealer to look at MP cam specs. Turns out someone had ordered the 4452757 cam and lifters but didn't pick them up. I got it all for $170, not bad.

This weekend I plan on installing everything, The only thing I'm not sure about is wether or not my exhaust springs/rotators will work with this cam?

specs: 248 - 256 DUR @.50 211- 228 Lift .410 - .425 C/L 110

I also bought a tranny cooler, water pump, and timing set.

Any tips other than the obvious for installing these parts?
The edel intake instructions say to leave out the cork gaskets and just use a bead of gasket maker. I have Felpro intake gaskets for the sides, anyone have any problems with these?

Thanks,
Culver

Exclamation ports

Using your new gasket as a template, see how you intake ports match up.A little work with a dremel tool usually makes a big difference in getting things to look right.RTV hitemp silicone works good across lifter valley, should let it set up overnite, dont know about those rotaters, should still work OK,doesnt sound like too big of a cam. What exhaust are you running?

Just follow the instructions and degree the cam in. Take your time and enjoy.

The lift sounds a little high for the rotators. I checked the MP cat from 02, and the recomended spring with that cam is P4286813.

I'd be finding them or some equivelants from the after market if I was you.

Also double check that spring number with your dealer, my eyes are a little tired right now, I wouldn't want to mislead you.

Wow, that's some pretty good prices for the Edelbrock stuff! Sounds like a pretty good setup, I'm not sure on the exhaust springs, but it's not too bad to change valve springs with the valve covers off, it's a lot easier if you have an air compressor and an air hold device to stick in the spark plug hole. Good luck!
