Need VIN Decode/Info on 1970 Roadrunner Quick!
A friend of mine called me from a wholesale car lot where they are auctioning a 1970 Roadrunner with what appears to be a 383 and auto trans. The car's got a new so-so paint job and has the orginial interior that could use some work. Just a little rust on the lower quarters, but he says it's not bad. He was able to start and drive it and, in his words, it "gets with the program." He's pretty excited about getting it, so I had him read me the VIN, RM23N0E143291. Can anyone decode it for me? I have some books at home, but I'm stuck at work right now.
I told him over the phone to check the engine stamp on the block to see if it's a 383, 400, 440, etc., but he wasn't able to read the numbers clearly. He did see the flat spot by the distributor, so I'm assuming it's a B engine and not an RB. I had him check the rear end and it's got an 8 and 3/4. Any suggestions on what else to have him check before he bids? Any guidelines on the most he should bid? Any advice would be appreciated. |
