neon startus motor swap

i have a 98 neon rt, i have 104,000 miles on it. this summer i want to replace the motor. i am an avid mechanic but i need a hand deciding on what motor i will put in my neon. i heard the stratus 2.4 is a good choice. but what is out there that will easly go in to a neon. an what ones will work with my computer in my neon. all info will be appreciated.

I have a friend who has the dodge startus 2.4 in his dodge neon and it runs well i think it is a goood choice i would do it myself but i am lookin for much more power myself GOOD LUCK......

thanx 98neon, do you know if he had to get new motor mounts. also did he use the neon trany, or the stratus trany. and did he have to use the stratus computer.

yes he got new mounts he has a neon five speed tranny along with a afx computer hope i help >>>>>

could you ask where he got the mounts. and if he had to get any adapter plates for trany. also ask him about the difficulty.

also how is it going with the pt cruiser engine swap. if you have any good info i would be interested. i might also go with the pt engine.

i had a buddy put a 3.0 out of a caravan in his 97 neon. he had to use the engine wire harness and computer out of the caravan though. the caravan has the same transmission in certain years

does any one know if a pt cruiser engine will bolt to a 1st gen neon trany. (5-speed)
