Idle speed
I set the idle speed on my car but when I put it in gear the RPM's drop and the car almost dies? I'm a newbie in the car world and have never done anything with carbs before so I'm not sure what the deal is.

Well it doesn't sound like anything but bumping up the idle a bit will fix the problem. What's it idling in Park and in Drive?????

Well I assuming 800-900 is in park??? Not knowing any specific's (carb type/timing/type of ignition/cam specs/torque converter stall/Was it running fine before? I can only say 1. Adjust up the idle until it does idle in drive. 2. Check the timing to make sure that's close, 8-12 degrees initial would start. 3 Fresh tune-up always helps.
