Default action plus & cast valve covers

uh oh.....

just putting the finishing touches on my small block build and have run into a small snag. last weekend i installed an action plus intake on my '77 360 and this morning "attempted" to install my new cast aluminum mopar performance valve covers.

have any of you run into the problem of the covers hitting the intake? if so, how did you correct it? It looks as though it is possible to notch the bosses on the intake to clear the lip on the covers. any input would be appreciated. thanks guys....Lance

I usually notch the valve cover. A thick gasket sometimes adds enough clearance also.

the vavle covers come with a gasket and that gasket is pretty thick. i know some dealer told me that the new vavle covers are now not coming with the gasket.

This is a common problem with any cast cover on any aluminum intake, noit just your combo. Get out the die grinder and just remove enough from the cover to clear the intake. I have an old set of cal customs that had been clearneced like that before I got them. Have used them on my race car for years now with no problems.

Welcome, anytime. It'll work for you. Just dont go wild with it, just enough to make it clear will do.
