Default Alternator Wiring

Just a quicky

What would the proper gauge wire be for a 100amp alt? I tried 8 but that heated up real darn quick. would 4g be enough, or is 2g required.

Thanks for the help
Ryan

It depends on the length of the cable that you are running. If the battery is under the hood, I would go with 2 gauge. If it is in the trunk, I would go with 0 gauge.
