Default Single/Dual pattern cams ?

What makes a cam a dual pattern ? how is it different than a single pattern ?

Dual pattern means the intake and exhaust lobes are different from one another.

example of single pattern cam 280* .470 60*

dual pattern cam 270* 280* .500 60*
dual pattern cams usually have more exhaust duration. this helps balance flow in the cylinder head.
