Transmission Identification
I have two transmission's i know they are for a chrysler but i dont know what kind they are. How can i tell the difference between them

check the pans.
Auto's>>>
Look at the pans. The 904's are pretty much square with a corner whacked off. The 727's have the front right corner that juts out a bit. Also a 727 is much larger an dmore massive in physical apperance than a 904. Manuals>>> A true 4 speed will have an iron case. A 3sp w/ OD will have an aluminum case. I think A bodies are the only ones that got the short tailshaft on the iron case trans. All others had a long tailshaft. At least, I think, anyway 5th |
