Default Which transmission should I use?

I have a 1976 Dodge Aspen with a 318 bored .030 over trw forged pistons, 10.33:1 compression, zero decked, comp 280 H cam, magnum heads ported and polished, M1 single plane, edelbrock 750 carb, TTI headers, MSD ignition, 2-1/2" dual exhaust with Flowmaster 50 series and a 8.25 rearend with 4.10 gears. I have the factory manual transmission in it now. I'm thinking about switching to an automatic. Who makes the best automatic to fit my car? Which stall converter should I have? Which Flexplate? Any suggestions on a shifter? Transmission cooler? Who makes the best shift kit for a 727? Is that TCI Streetfighter any good? Will it need a shift kit if I blow $760.00 in the first place? Will the switch make me lose that much power? I have a Hurst Indy shifter on it now but it still doesn't shift real fast. Will 4.10 be too much for an automatic. I'm running a 275/60R15 tire in the back right now, which is pretty good size. I use this car on the street and some at the track. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!!!

I can answer a few questions, but this guy can answer all of them. Click here, http://www.coperacingtrans.com/
Yes, run a cooler.
The switch will cost you power. Not a whole lot after a stock tranny gets the magic wand waved over it. Auto trannys in stcok form use alot of power. After there moded, they'll use less, but still consume more than a manual.
Todays autos shift very hard and fast compared to a maual, unless your really smoking hot behind a stick, and I mean SMOKIN HOT THERE FAR, FAR QUICKER.
Seldom do I see a racer shift a manual quick enuff to compete with a auto trans.

The TCI street fighter is just a small step under a full race tranny. It has a manual/auto valve body and will have a neck snapping gear change to it. It's very quick whne it changes compared to a street or stock tranny. IT will need no mods to it at all. We've raced with several of them over the rears and they are the best I have found. Pretty bullet proof unless you do something dumb with it. Run an extra cooler in line with the stock rad cooler too for max cooling. TCI also makes the best shift kits and converters too. Just stay far away from b&m crap if you want your auto tranny to live. Seen too many failures from there junk.

If you like, I have a small block tranny I could swap you everything you need for that manual set up if you like. The only thing I would not have for that swap to trade you would be a good Hurst V matic2 . Otherwise I got every part you need. Let me know if you would like to do a swap.

If you have CRT build your transmission you'll get a unit built for you, not one pulled off the shelf and it will be built by a Mopar specialist who doesn't build Powerglides on Monday and Ford-O-Matics on Tuesday.

I had mine built by ART trans... I believe that both ART and CRT have distributorships with A&A trans (Rick designs Mopar specific parts like his valve bodies) that work THE BEST on Mopar trannies.

I believe that either one of these builders will do quality work and again it's built for your car with parts that you specify.. not an off the shelf mostly stock tranny...

I put an aluminum drum in mine for safety reasons... No sense in chancing a tranny explosion on the stock drum if the tranny let's go...

It cost three times as much to build a glide to make it live in a chebby, and then you would need adapters to get it to bolt to a Mopar. Just not worth it when you can get a bullet proof A727 for a lot cheaper, will last longer, and out run that piece of chebby crap too.
