The best might be a tough question to answer but I have been very pleased with the Edelbrock IAS shocks I installed on my GTX. I put new rear springs on it and decided to get rid on the old nasty air-shocks. Put IAS on all four corners. What a change. The best, well that is in the eye of the beholder, but these shocks very a good investment. Except for the headers and cam my '70 is very similiar in set-up.....

Pro makes a great adjustable shock in both steel and aluminum tube. Carrea bought out by QA1 will carry some nice shocks too. Afco and Bilstein if you can stand the price. These are the best on the market at this time.

Mr.B,
I think the last issue of Mopar Muscle had an article on rear shocks in a drag application on a 67 GTX. They did basically the same thing you're wanting to do... ditch the air shocks. They used HAL QA1 adjustable drag shocks in back (can't remember if they did in front, too), but they loved the results. I've got QA1 Stocker Star "road race" shocks on my Valiant and I *LOVE THEM*. Even with giant t-bars up front, the ride is better now than it used to be. They made all the difference in the world. Got them through Summit for about $140/each. Clair |

are non-adjustable performance rear shocks normally set at 50/50. i feel like once i make a decision and set the desired position it will most likely be 50/50 because that is what most people run. i did read that article about the qa1 shocks. they seem to be a great shock. just trying to get opinions.

You can get non adjustable ones in 50/50 and just about any other valving you want too. At least from the good shock makers.

rancho 9000series shocks seem to be a drag favorite on mopars. i just bought a set off a guy but i want to baseline my car before i put them on and it was a rainout this weekend. mine are 5 way adjustable but the new ones may be 12.

New Ranchos are 9. I have them on my 4x4. Good shock, but not real good for racing.

dwc43, i must disagree with you on this one. caltarcs sells them with there whole kit wich include mono leafs, ranchos, and their bar. i believe that ranchos are also one of the only shocks that mancini chooses to sell also. i am not saying that their the best because i have heard of some very good but very expensive shocks but i have never seen them either. their are guys that love the summit shocks too. so who knows.

Oh, they are a good shock, just not best for drag racing. Like I said, I own a set on my 4x4 and they work good. I run them on 3 all the time and switch the rears to 5 when I load it down with the race cars. THere are better shocks out there to use for racing, that's all. I prefer to run Carrera's, but since QA 1 bought them out I may use Pro since I have dealer access to them. Afco and Bilstien are also good choices too.
