Heres a question for you, how come everyone makes stroker kits for the 340, 383,400, and 440 and not the 360 or do they? Ive never seen one or read about one, yet it seems with its wider crank mains then a 340 you could replace the cast crank with a forged piece and get 400+ cubes and have a serious crank/bottom end with 4 bolt mains..or would the weight of the crank pull the saddles apart? Seem like with all the 360s out there someone would try this.

The problem is really twofold,
First, the 340 has a larger bore to start with, so overall larger engines are possible. Secondly & probably most important is the issue of Crankshaft availability & cost. Mopar has 3 cranks available for the 360 mains, at a cost of around $1900 each. Granted, they are 4340 material, so they are top quality. For the 340 mains, there are 9 different cranks available, with 8 different stroke combinations, in 1053 material. Those go for about $900-1000 each. The 4340 crank is the premium material, but the cost is prohibitive. |
