I like the idea of an editing time limit - it makes people more accountable for what they've written, but I would like to see a longer "editing window", perhaps five or ten minutes? More than once, I've gone in to edit a post to rephrase a thought or correct a typo, and had the two-minute period expire *while* I was making the changes.

The 2 min edit rule sux. I type slow and it takes longer than 2 mins to type some of my posts. Then you make a typo or want to add or change something you can't because its been longer than 2 mins.
I would like to know the reason that it is set at 2 mins, what purpose does it serve? |

As for the purpose, it makes people take responsibility for what they write. Otherwise, there are people that would constantly "revise history" with their posts if there were no time limit. This is also why if you post to USENET newsgroups (like alt.rec.hi-po.mopars), you can't go back and edit or delete your posts. I feel that once discussion on a topic has begun or a post has been replied to, it should be too late to go back and change your earlier posts. That's why I think that we should keep the edit limit, but make it a little bit longer, like ten minutes or so. Scott |

What I was trying to say is that I type slow so it often takes me more than 2 mins to type the corrections to my post and it will not allow me to make these corrections.
I can see what you are saying about needing a time limit to keep people from going back and changing what they wrote in the past. I also agree that they need to make this time limit longer but do not get rid of it. |

Could be longer-
But the 'preview reply' works pretty well.
PMs could be handy since noone sets up thier profile to accept emails. CxCx |

I'm not to sure about being able to PM other members. It might be ok on this fourm but on other fourms with a lot of assclowns they use PM's to harrass people. I would not want 1000 diffrent people PMing me because they disagree with something I posted.

That's why theres this in your Edit Options: "Enable Private Messaging? Allows people to send Private Messages to you yes no" That's why I dont understand why we are'nt allowed to have it here, we choose whether or not to accept it. If you dont want people to PM you check "no". That simple. I dont really want my email address posted for everyone becuase I dont want spammers to get it and flood my email but I really dont understand why we cant have PM...though this topic was suppose to be about the 2 minute edit thing though, was'nt it Anyway, how are we suppose to contact other enthusiasts that can either help us or we can help them? Sometimes you need specific details about something the rest of the board could'nt care less about. |
