Default Carb size for 383

What size carb should I get for a 383 with eddy 88cc heads, eddy rpm manifiold and 9.5:1 CR.

Was thinking of a 750cfm Mighty demon or is this to small, looking at more work to engine in the future.

Thanks

Eddy

750, dead on. A 650 will work with a little top loss over 6K. Don't go more unless you go all the way with the rest of the build up (3000 high stall, big cam, tall gears, headers + 3" pipes, ect.) 800-850 are better suited to 440

what rpm are you going for? I'd personally give up 5 hp at 6000rpm to increase driveability down low. 600 or 650 if you aren't going past 6000 regularly. if it's a strip motor, the 750 or 850, just not on the street.

Contact Don over at FBO Systems. He can set you up with the correct Demon for your application. If you already have a good supplier, where you are, then go to the BG website and use their charts, to determine the best Demon for your application.

I ran a 750 dbl pumper (with a Torquer) on my +.060 383, it was just right, up to 6500 RPM.

The stock 800 cfm thermoiquad is what you want. It's the best of both worlds. Down low take off with great top end power. And you can get new ones at Advance auto for $189 or at least that's the cost when I bought the last one I got. Other wise find you a 750. The 600 and 650 are way too small.

Default Demonize !!!

Do yourself a favor and go with the Demon, although as someone mentioned earlier, talk to Don at FBO; mainly because the 750 flows more like 830. Personally, with your CR, I would go with the 650 Mighty or Speed Demon, again they will flow more than the rated 650 cfm which would help top end but not hurt you too much on the bottom end. I think you will be happier with the killer throttle response of the 650 variety. In addition, a lot of the 383 HiPo's came with a Carter 625 and they ran like a scalded dog. Just FYI I am running a 750 Speed Demon on a well built 440 and a 650 Road demon on a slightly warmed 360 and I can't say enough good about them; they are a quality piece. Frank R.
