what type of fluid does a sb 727 take? atf 3?

the trans fluid of choice for all 727's seems to be dexron III, although you CAN use type F IF you change ALL the fluid. this means draining the torque converter.

type F has different friction modifiers and is reported to provide firmer shifts.

NEVER MIX TRANSMISSION FLUID TYPES! type F and dexron are NOT compatible, and the results of mixing the 2 types arent pretty

No harm will come from mixing fluids in a 727 without lockup clutch, many folks do, myself included.
