Question What Racer brown cam are you running?

I notice there are a lot of racer brown fans on this site. Which grind are you running in your small blocks. I want to get one for a race only car with a 360. I'm looking for some info from you guys and girls to help me out. Can you give me some results and combo's. Thanks in advance

I have the ssh25 in my 340. 238 @ .050 int and exh, 484 lift int and exh. I run it in a 4 spd car with .391 gears but only have 500 miles on the motor as of yesterday so no 1/4 times yet. I'm sure you'll want a (bumpier) is that a word? (bigger) cam than what I run as you want a race cam, just thought I'd chime in and say that the one I have is great. Makes lots of power and I'm happy with Racer Brown's cam.

Just call Jim, over at Racer Brown. He's going to ask you many questions aobut your engine, tranny, rear gears, tire size, vehicle weight, and your application and expectations. He will then recommend the best cam for your specific application.

I am running the SS-H-44 Racer Brown cam.

It is the .510 lift/.292 Adv Duration (.242@.050).

I pull high 12's with a 12.5:1 318, soon to be mid 12's once I get the carb tuned and some little things squared away.

When you call Jim, be prepared to answer a lot of detailed questions about your motor. Actual compression ratio, compression test results, etc.

PS - I posted an RB partial cam listing a long time ago, here's the link:

Default I'm not to happy with my Racer Brown recommendation.

I have the SSH-44 C.
I told him all my info and he ground me the cam. told me to switch intakes and now car is alot slower! I think it's the intake he recommended.
I thought it sounded stupid to go to a dual plane intake with a stall converter!
So "JIM" gave me some bad info in my opinion.
So now I'm selling my Cam and Intake after 1000 miles.
If anyone is interested let me know. hyd. 242-510 @.050
w/ 3 degree advance. 105 centerline.
Performer RPM dual plane.
I switched to a solid cam and stroked the motor.
after re-financing the house again

Titan:

What is the advertised duration of that SSH-38? (280?)
What is the power range?
What springs are you running?
What kind of vacuum are you getting at idle/what rpm?

Thanks

I don't know the actual weight. bought the car as a already started project. 1972 fiberglass fenders and hood, fiberglass bumpers and trunk deck. no heater box no ANYTHING but the essentials. man I bought car from said if I put the smallblock in it it would probaly weigh i think 2600lbs. im in process of returning car back closer to original. ive changed to a 4-speed and am t
rying to just make a fun street car.

funny story: with car in neutral, rev engine and flexfan inches car forward.
