Single Plane Intakes??? too many to choose from!
I need an intake! I Had a M1 and wish I never sold it!
Now I have a stroked 440. 10:1 comp. Edelbrock 84cc heads. 3500 stall 4:30 gears, 3700 lb car without driver. will probably go with a holley 1050 carb. and need a good intake. I cannot use spacers and cannot have one any taller than the M1. I had a hard enough time getting a air cleaner on it last time. So theres so many single plane intakes I don't know which one to choose. TM-7, Victor, M1, etc. So I need this tank to pull between 3500-6200 RPM's Any advice? them damn mustangs are gonna get some |

m1 is working excellent in my 3700 lbs satellite, 10.5 comp iron heads big solid cam pulls to 6800 rpm and is at 11.99 at 2800 ft elevation
i wouldn't use anything but the m1 for a street car, the car runs awesome at hot or cold temperatures. |

agreeded. The M-1 is the choice intake for street or strip. I have seen dyno sheets showing it delivers the most broad torque curve through out the RPM range.
Mopar muscle did a dyno run with many inyakes. I'll see if I can't find it. |

The problem with the M1 is hood clearance. Is there anything that is shorter and still as good?
The TM-7 someone said is 1 inch shorter. How much will I lose if I switch? or is there another alternative? Edelbrock: Tarantula, Torker, Torker II, TM-5, TM-6, TM-7, Victor, Victor W2 Holley: Street Dominator, Strip Dominator Weiand: X-Celerator, Team G Offenhauser: Port-O-Sonic Chrysler: NASCAR, M1 |

The Victor is taller than the M-1. Have you thought about the Team G with a 4500 pattern. It might be shorter than the M-1.

My e-heads are ported and the cam is a custom comp solid, 264@.050/.575 lift/109lsa. This is a tight quench pump gas motor that made 540hp. Either of those two manifolds will move enough air to feed your stroker, inmo. I know of a 493 combo with a similar cam to mine, same e-head porting, 4.10 gears....running mid 10's with a street dominator and 4150 carb....in a 3800 lb car. The sd or tm7 would be my choice with a 1000hp 4150 style carb...... Ron |

The Victor one the Contest hands down against all other intakes, it also made more torque than any other intake too, Including the M1. Actually the Holley SD done just as well as the M1. The victor is higher than the M1 too. This was done on a 9:1 493 cid engine with a 590 purple cam. Basiclly I would find ant single plan intake that I could find cheap, I dont think that any would make 5 hp diff

the holley SD is one of the best and is very low so you could also experiment with different spacers. i think that is what makes it the best choice.

We are using an M-1 on Rogers 68 Charger with the 440 stroker I just built. Like you, hood clearance is THE problem! I told him a zillion times to get a glass hood with a scoop. Changing intakes is not an option on this car as we don't want to upset a great working combo. Some day soon he's going to listen to me!!!!!!!! ........djs
