When it comes to auto trans cars and stall speeds, theres a lot to think about. Go and click below . Thigs like car weight, tire size, engine torque, cam, carb, intake and so on play a roll in the stall needed for the car.

I ran a 10" 3000 stall in my 70 Cuda with a 440 and 3.91 gears. You wouldnt even know it was their. You need to call some converter companies and see what they recomend. so good companies are Dynamic, Turbo Action , ATI and PTC. Good luck.

The first thing they ask is what cam are you runnin. I'm trying to pick which cam/converter package to buy. I've been told that the stall speed has to be lower than the engine rpm at hyway speed. Any truth to this?

I have my doubts about PTC (performance torque converters). I called and asked for an 11" that had about a 2,700 to 2,800 foot-break stall, at least no more than 2,800. Kenny said he'd fix me right up with one he thought I'd really like. Ended up sending me one that had a foot-break stall at 3,200 RPM's!!!! The dang thing was so loose that I had to take it back out, and put my old one back in. I called him and complained. He said that was alittle high. Really. doh! He said send it back and he'd adjust it. The dang thing has already cost me over $400 as it is!!! Now is sits colleting dust. I ain't gonna shell out any more $$$ on it, nor am I gonna go through the pain of installing another TC on my back under a car in my garage.
