Default octane boost formula?

A guy on ebay is selling formulas for octane boost, ya I know but at $107 a LITER ( 1 US quart) for 97 octane for my daily driver 11 to 1 383 70 cuda its worth a try. Anyway this guy won't ship to Canada or I would just buy it. So to heck with him, has anybody got such a thing or tried something like it?

Fuel additives only raise the octane rating about .35 to .65 of an octane and that comes straight from the can. Not worth messing with. Keep using the racing fuel, before you tear up a good engine.

Wow... Gas has jumped in Canada. $107 a Liter about $405 a Gallon. That must be the most expensive fuel in the world... lol

I know that you meant $1.07 CDN a Liter or $2.97 USD per Gallon.

I run "poor man's race fuel" in my circle track car. I mix 5 parts pump premium, 5 parts av gas, and 1 part toluene (or xylene). The Toulene can be bought at your local Acklands-Grainger store (its in their catalogue) for 11 bucks (canadian $) for 4 litres. The octane of toluene is in the 120 range.

I use this in a true 11.4:1 360 engine in my circle track car (with 36 degrees ignition timing). It see alot of load for a long period of time during a race. I have had no problems with it at all. It leaves a light gray deposit on the pistons

But it's not 120 after you mix it with fuel and AV gas.

$3 US a gallon for 97 octane? Where can I get a deal that good? I'm living where mere 92 octane is $2.40 US a gallon and nothing higher is available without going to 110 octane race gas for $5 a gallon. My cousin has a turbo Audi that he races, and he's found that the cheapest way to get high octane (without using lead which will kill his O2 sensors) is to use Toluene as an additive. Just make sure to be safe when mixing it, that stuff is pretty nasty...
